MARTINSVILLE, Va. –  Interested in the future of New College Institute? New College Institute (NCI) is inviting the community to a town hall meeting next week as they share updates on innovative programming to be offered locally. In part, NCI representatives will discuss their areas of focus moving forward, which include:

  • Engineering/Advanced Manufacturing
  • Technology/Cyber Security
  • Healthcare
  • Education and Community Leadership
  • Experiential Learning

 

The meeting is open to the public and will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the Martin-Lacy Lecture Hall at NCI’s Building on Baldwin (191 Fayette Street). Questions will be taken from the audience after brief presentations from the following NCI representatives:

  • Senator William M. Stanley Jr., Chair, NCI Board of Directors
  • Naomi Hodge-Muse, Secretary, NCI Board of Directors and President, Martinsville Henry County NAACP
  • Dr. Leanna Blevins, Executive Director, NCI 
  • Warrick Scott, Founder/CEO, Wendell Scott Foundation

 

“With so many new programs and opportunities coming to NCI in the near future, we feel that this town hall meeting will be a great way to share our new direction. It is critical that we get valuable feedback from our community members and business and industry partners to insure we are responsive and relevant," said Dr. Leanna Blevins, NCI Executive Director. 

 

“We are working tirelessly to provide new and innovative educational opportunities here at NCI. Our goal is to offer the highest quality education at the lowest cost to the student, while connecting students with job opportunities during their studies and upon graduation,” shared Senator Bill Stanley, NCI Board Chair. "NCI is creating a workforce pipeline in engineering and cyber that will not only place our graduates in high paying jobs, but also will attract new industries to our area,” shared Senator Bill Stanley, NCI Board Chair.
