At their meeting on December 9, 2016, the NCI Board of Directors appointed new leadership including a new board chair and executive director.
Dr. Leanna Blevins, who previously served as NCI’s acting director and chief academic officer during her 10 years with the institution, is now the permanent executive director after a unanimous board vote.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to continue to serve NCI and this community alongside my esteemed colleagues,” said Blevins.
Additionally, Senator Bill Stanley was appointed as the new board chair. Stanley has served on the NCI board for the past four years. He also serves as the Virginia Senator for the 20th District, which includes the City of Martinsville, Henry County, and neighboring communities. While welcoming Stanley, NCI also recognized and thanked Gracie Agnew, outgoing board chair, for her service to the organization.
“I am dedicated to the task at hand, which is transforming NCI into a 21st century state-of-the-art college that provides the best educational opportunities for our community and making NCI’s forward-looking and innovative approach to workforce training and college education platforms to be a magnet to draw industries to our area that will return Southside as the leading economic driver of Virginia’s new economy,” shared Stanley.
The other newly designated members of the executive committee of the NCI Board of Directors include Vice Chair Janice Wilkins and Secretary Naomi Hodge-Muse.
NCI thanks all those who have committed to serving in a leadership role as we prepare for the next phase in our path toward providing access to education in Martinsville-Henry County and beyond.
