In conjunction with National Cyber Security Awareness Month, New College Institute (NCI) will host a non-credit lecture series titled “The New Criminal Justice Paradigm” on Wednesday, October 15, at noon. This discussion-based lecture will focus on online victimization that can occur through social media, technology, and society in general. Online platforms such as Facebook, Craigslist, Twitter, Instagram, email, and others will be addressed specifically. Captain Eric Winn of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office will present the lecture and discussion.

“All of NCI’s non-credit lectures aim to keep people informed and encourage lifelong learning. In this case, the topic will also help community members learn ways to better protect themselves from online threats in today’s world,” said Steve Keyser, NCI’s Coordinator of Community Engagement.

All of NCI’s non-credit lecture series, including this one, are free and open to the public. This month’s lecture will be held at NCI’s King Hall located at 30 Franklin Street in uptown Martinsville. To register or learn more, please call NCI at (276) 403-5610. Also, to learn more about National Cyber Security Awareness Month, please visit www.staysafeonline.org.
