Each summer, New College Institute hosts educational camps for local middle school students that are designed to maintain their enthusiasm for learning during the months away from their school classrooms.
These popular camps regularly “sell out” with camp sizes limited to allow for specialized attention from instructors for participants.
“We had no idea what to expect for the technology camp, and our expectations were truly exceeded! It was very evident that a lot of time and planning was put into organizing the daily activities. My child was very eager to arrive at camp each day and spoke about each daily activity. She even commented that the program should be two weeks long!”

2017 Summer Camp Programs
All camps cost $60, snacks included. Camps are held daily from 9:00am - 12:00pm.
- Engineering for Girls
June 5 - 8
An engineering summer camp for girls to explore science, engineering and math through the art of making! Rising 6th and 7th grade girls are invited to come and learn that armed with an understanding of math and science, a bit of engineering knowhow, and boundless creativity, nothing is impossible. During this week, girls will work together to explore the creative process and craft items that have both form and function. The girls will also be introduced to a one-day lesson about cybersecurity emphasazing the importance of internet safety.
- Programming for Your World: Coding Camp
June 19 - 22
Technology is everywhere in our day to day life! At the heart of it all lies computer programming, strange words in what looks like a foreign language, typed on a computer screen that give life to so many things around us. In this camp we will use Arduino microcontrollers to explore how computer programming can be used to manipulate things like lights, switches, sensors, and motors. This camp is open to rising 6th and 7th grade boys and girls.
- Engineering for Boys
June 12 - 15
An engineering summer camp for boys to explore different types of engineering through several hands-on, teambased design projects. Rising 6th and 7th grade boys are invited to come and learn that armed with an understanding of math and science, a bit of engineering know how, and boundless creativity, nothing is impossible. During this week, boys will work together with engineering faculty from NCI’s Academy for Engineering and Technology to explore the engineering design process and learn tools to help take these ideas beyond the abstract into real life. We’ll teach you all of the necessary skills to not just watch, but do! So, come and explore, solve and create with us and discover how you can be the next engineer.
