Ace the ACT: A free ACT preparation workshop

Please join us for this free introduction to the ACT college entrance exam. Students will be provided with an overview of the ACT, learn key test taking strategies, and have an opportunity to practice test questions.

Ever wonder about the people who lived in the low lying areas under what is now Philpott
Lake? Before it's creation in 1950, there were farms, businesses and homes, train tracks, and a thriving moonshine economy. Flooding along the Smith River was a devastating price to pay for living in the area until the Philpott Dam was developed. Learn more about the hidden history of the area through stories and photos, including a series of photos of construction of the dam.
