New College Institute is offering an encore presentation of the oral history film debuted in 2015. This film celebrates African-American culture and features personal accounts of the local history surrounding the Fayette Street community. Following the showing of the film, there will be time for discussion and reactions.

August 8: What is Social Media All About?
Social media has become the new standard for communicating. The first class is an overview class highlighting the basics for some of the most popular social media technologies including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Snap Chat.  Three specialized classes will be delivered with a more in-depth focus on specific social media technologies.  Adults are welcome to sign up for the overview course and as many of the in-depth courses as they are interested in.

Yes, you can!

Facebook is one of the best-known social networking sites and in 2017 the number of over 75's using social media nearly doubled. This class will teach you more about terms associated with Facebook and its features, how to create an account, and how to send friend requests.

August 22: Twitter... Yes, you can!  #tweet
Do you tweet? Know what a hashtag (#) is for? Learn how to join the conversation by sharing photos, videos, and short messages with other users around the world.
Prerequisite: Active email account

August 28: It's 2018, no need for a photo album! (New Date!)
So you have a cell phone full of photos.... now what?  Learn how to share photos from your phone and the top 5 Internet sites to use to store, print, edit, and share photos.  This class will ensure you don't lose your photo memories and that you are able to share them!
