Thomas Jefferson's vision was to keep military engineers together, trained and useful during peace times by building the infrastructure for our new nation - military engaged in his vision of Civil Engineering. Today, the US Army Corps is a hybrid of military soldiers and civilian employees working together. Between then and now is the history of building a nation.
