An exciting employment opportunity is available for an experienced safety and security officer. The opportunity is located at New College Institutes in Martinsville, Virginia.
Job Summary/Objectives: The part-time Safety and Security officer position maintains security of New College Institute Facilities, assists staff, students, and visitors. The safety and security officer will perform daily security patrols, investigate and prepare reports on all incidents (injuries, fire alarms, complaints), monitor surveillance equipment, properly inspect entrances and access points, provide exemplary customer service as a representative of New College Institute and enforce all regulations and policies of NCI. Must be able to protect and maintain safe environment, ability to relate and interact with diverse populations, effectively communicate verbally and in writing, make quick judgement calls, resolve conflicts and solve problems in various situations. Position considered part-time with no benefits.
Minimum Qualifications: Post-secondary or certificate program in security training. Maintain a security certification provided by Department of Criminal Justice Services, applicants must be 18 years or older and must be able to pass a drug and criminal history check, if required.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent experience. CPR & First-Aid Certification preferred.
Must be available to work evenings and weekends from Monday thru Saturday.
Hiring Salary Range: Salary commensurate upon relevant work experience. Position considered part-time, not exceeding an average of 29 hours per week with no benefits.
